Today the University of Benghazi has joined as a partner of the EUROSCI Network. This University, located in Benghazi, historical capital of Libya, is the oldest higher education institution in the country. It is also one of the two biggest universities in Libya by student registration numbers, with around 70,000 registered students in 2020.
Sebha University has joined today as a partner of the EUROSCI Network. This is one of the most important expansions in the history of the EUROSCI Network, not only because the University of Sebha is among the three best universities in Libya, a leader in education in Africa, but also because Sebha is a bridge to Sub-Saharan Africa. Sebha University has campuses in Sebha, Oubari, Gatt, Brrak, Tregan, Zouwailah, and, outside Libya, N'Djamena in Chad.
Second partner in Brazil and third one in South America
Universidade Metodista de São Paulo has joined today as a partner of the EUROSCI Network. It thus becomes the 22nd partner university of the network, the second one in Brazil and the third one in South America. The University is particularly strong in the fields of communication and theology, and will reinforce the Network in those areas.
The EUROSCI Network offers up to 10 scholarships for its intensive course in Online teaching in international higher education starting 6 July 2020. Scholarships are reserved for teachers at EUROSCI Network partner institutions, with a limit of one scholarship per institution. Applications should be submitted to local EUROSCI Network co-ordinators by 30 June.
The University of Tripoli has today become a partner of the EUROSCI Network. This Libyan university thus becomes the 21st partner of the EUROSCI Network, the second one in Africa, and one of the largest of the whole Network by student registration numbers. Dr Hamida Aburounia, associate professor at the faculty of economics and political science, becomes a member of the Network.
The University of Pristina has become a partner of the EUROSCI Network today. This is the first institution to join the EUROSCI Network in the Balkans.

We offer all our technical means and expertise in educational technology to mitigate the effects of this crisis for institutions and individuals, from university-wide suspension of teaching activity to individual self-isolation measures by students and teachers.
Universidad Católica de Colombia has today joined the EUROSCI Network. This private university thus becomes the 20th university to join the Network, the first one in Colombia and the second one in South America.
The European Commission has approved the Final Report of the Jean Monnet Chair in European Political Economy - Catedra de Europeism Stiintific held by Diego Varela at Universitatea Alexandru Ioan Cuza din Iasi. The final European Union grant for the above project has been established at EUR 44,505.00.
Ex-Commons speaker John Bercow becomes politics professor at EUROSCI Network partner Royal Holloway, University of London. He will be a colleague of EUROSCI Network member Giacomo Benedetto in the department of Politics, International Relations and Philosophy of this British university.
Dimitrios Tselios, an expert in computer science and management information systems, has just joined the EUROSCI Network. His university, the University of Thessaly, thus becomes the 19th partner of the Network and the first one in Greece.
HESTIM Engineering and Business School has today become the first partner of the EUROSCI Network in Africa and the 18th globally. HESTIM is a small engineering and business school in the Moroccan city of Casablanca, where it atracts students from all over Africa. HESTIM students from Togo, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Senegal, Ivory Coast, and Congo, have been taking a EUROSCI Network course since October. Information of local interest will be found at the newly created website eurosci.hestim.ma.
Cristina Gomez-Roman, assistant professor of social psychology at Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, has joined the EUROSCI Network. The EUROSCI Network encourages interdisciplinary collaboration, and the field of social psychology will become a new priority for the Network. Founded in 1495, USC is also one of the oldest and most prestigeous universities in Spain.
Prof. Christian Kaunert, an expert in European security, has just joined the EUROSCI Network and his university, the University of South Wales, has become a partner.
The mission is funded by a EUROSCI Network travel grant as part of the Global Outreach Commission, the EUROSCI Network's global outreach initiative. Local support is provided by EUROSCI Network volunteers in the region.
Exchanges between the University of Suceava in Romania and Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba in Brazil have been selected for EU funding. The grant is funded from both the education and foreign policy headings of the Erasmus+ budget.
A student from Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iasi has been awarded a EUROSCI Network Global Outreach Commission travel grant to visit Morocco in September 2019.
We are offering a travel grant to carry out independent field work in selected destinations during the months of July, August, or September, 2019. Candidates should have passed a EUROSCI Network course, hold a university degree or be about to get one, and have a working knowledge of English.
The EUROSCI Network has just opened a national centre in Indonesia. The centre will explore the possibilities of expansion of the Network in this strategic Southeast Asian country. Located between the Indian and Pacific oceans, Indonesia is not only the largest island country in the world, but also the fourth most populous one, with a population of 264 million in 2017.
A group of students led bt Valentyna Bohatyrets in Chernivtsi have posed with their new certificates of the Jean Monnet Open Online Course of European Integration. The 42-hour course was offered by Alexandru Ioan Cuza University as part of its Jean Monnet Chair in European Political Economy co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. The course was made available through the EUROSCI Network, and more than 50 students successfully completed it at the Universities of Iasi and Suceava in Romania, and the universities of Chernivtsi and Odessa in Ukraine.
The EUROSCI Network is committed to its activities in Brazil. After having secured a partnership agreement with Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba, the Network is now looking for additional Brazilian partners to be able to develop its new project in this country. The EUROSCI Network promotes international university co-operation beyond traditional student and teacher mobility with the help of new technologies. Partnerships allow us to offer a high-quality international experience to our students while keepeng costs down for our partners.
As part of its international expansion, the EUROSCI Network is currently monitoring the Georgian higher education market, with an eye on potential partnerships in that country. Georgia and the European Union have maintained relations since 1996 in the INOGATE framework, and in 2006 a five-year "Action Plan" of rapprochement was implemented in the context of the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP). A more comprehensive Association Agreement entered into force on 1 July 2016.
The EUROSCI Network has just opened a new site for the Chinese market. This is a long-term bet because at the momemt most of the technologies we use for our courses, such as Google, Youtube or Facebook, are still banned in China. But we welcome this step towards internet liberalisation by Chinese authorities and hope to be able to establish partnerships with universities in that country one day.
Today Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba has joined the EUROSCI Network. This is not only the first university of the Network in Brazil, but also the first one outside Europe. Brazil has been a strategic target for EUROSCI for a long time, as shown by the fact that we created a national centre with a dedicated website more than a year ago. UNIMEP's accession is also important for the redefinition of EUROSCI as a truly global network, and the first step in a direction that will be consolidated in the following months.
We are getting ready for the third edition of the Jean Monnet Open Online Course of European Integration, whose lectures are due to start in October. Valentyna Bohatyrets of Chernivtsi National University has been the fastest in getting her students registered, with 20 students in her group. Our traditional group in Chernivtsi led by Iryna Tkachuk is also foreseen, and we also know that there are colleagues trying to put groups together in Zhytomyr and Odessa. All these will join our traditional groups of students in Suceava and Iasi.
The EUROSCI Network is selecting class teachers for the Jean Monnet Open Online Course of European Integration offered as part of the activities of Jean Monnet Chair in European Political Economy created by Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iasi with the support of the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. The course will run through the first semester of the 2018-2019 academic year, have a teaching load of 42 hours, and an academic value of 6 ECTS credits.
